Help needed: A couple of volunteers are needed to help at the cookie decorating table during Trunk-or-Treat on Oct. 28th. If you are willing to help, please let Cindy Baas or Breanna Wetzler know. Thank you.
Our next LYF event will be a Mystery Supper and Pumpkin Decorating on Wed., Oct. 10 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Permission forms are on the magazine rack and are due to Stephanie Taylor or the church office by Oct 8.
Ladies, it is time to sign up to receive The LWML Quarterly. This is the official publication of the LWML and is filled with mission updates, inspirational stories and more. The cost is only $5 per year. Please sign up at the display in the narthex. We have a few extra magazines, so if you would like to take one home and look it over, please do so. Please return it to the display when you are finished. The deadline to sign up is Oct. 14.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD COMES TO ST. PAUL FOR SECOND YEAR Starting Sunday, October 7 boxes will be available for members to pick up to fill. There will also be a small envelope for a $9 donation for shipping, this will include the opportunity to track where your box is being sent! Boxes are due back to the church Sunday, November 11th. This project is being handled by the Family Life Ministry Office.
Family Service Quilters will meet Thursday, Oct. 11th, for a Thrivent Action Team Event from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Wear your Thrivent T-Shirts, bring a sack lunch and join us.
Do you play a musical instrument? Anyone from 8th grade thru adults interested in playing in a Reformation Sunday Ensemble should let Wayne Hagemoser know soon so transformations, if needed, can be made available. Practice sessions will likely be the 3 Tuesdays before Reformation Sunday at 5:30 before bell practice at 6:30. All instruments, including strings, woodwinds, etc. are welcome. I can be reached at 232-2807 or wayneh@iastate.edu after October 4th if questions arise.
Plan to attend! Oct.14 will be a special day that you wont want to miss! We will have a special Mission Speaker, Rev John Fale, who is now a representative of Mission Central to help us celebrate LWML Sunday. Following the service the Evangelism Committee will be serving a meal for everyone.
Special Voters’ Meeting– Oct. 14 following our Mission Fest meal. The plans for a new addition to the church have been presented and the voters’ meeting will determine the next steps. Don’t miss it!
Beta Sigma Psi Lutheran Fraternity at Iowa State will be holding their annual Beta Sig Brunch philanthropy event on Sunday October 21st from 9am – 1pm at our house, 2132 Sunset Drive. All proceeds from our event benefit Habitat for Humanity. The brunch features an all-you-can-eat breakfast featuring sausage, waffles, biscuits and gravy, cinnamon rolls, juice and coffee. Tickets are $5 in advance or $6 at the door. We will have tickets to the event available for purchase after the service and will be accepting donations to Habitat for Humanity for those who wish to support but cannot attend the brunch. Thank you.
Pies! Pies! Pies! The best way to end a nice Sunday dinner is with a piece of pie. We need pie donations for our Mission Fest dinner on Sunday, October 14th. Bake one, buy one or thaw one, or even freeze one, but please sign up on the bulletin board so we know how many to expect. Six pies will be chosen randomly for the Mission Bucks Contest. The winner will receive a $10 HyVee gift card. Pies need to be in the church kitchen by 11:00 am Sunday morning. PLEASE DO NOT BRING ON SATURDAY DUE TO A FUNERAL.
Next Sunday is LWML Sunday! Be sure to bring your mites for the noisy offering. We want to help support the mission grants of the LWML, both National and District. Thank you!
