Today, March 1 for our Mission Sunday we have as our guest speaker Pastor Haney from Iowa District West. Pastor Haney is from Fort Dodge, Iowa. Rev. B. Keith Haney, Assistant to the President for Missions, Human Care, and Stewardship is an ordained pastor for 27 years. Serving multi-ethnic urban congregations Berea, Detroit, MI, Director of Outreach and Evangelism, St. Louis for four congregations in the L.U.T.H.E.R. Plan, Senior Pastor at Gospel Lutheran in Milwaukee and Mission Facilitator, Northern Illinois District LCMS until September of 2019.  In January 2016, he started to write a blog to encourage believers in their faith journey and non-believers to explore difficult faith issues. The blog has over 5,000 faithful followers, over 1,500 of those are Millennials. The blog address is Pastor Haney’s role in Iowa District West is to assist congregations with strategic planning , visioning, outreach to the community, cultivate a culture of generosity, and foster a climate of human care that connects faith to crisis situations .

TODAY, March 1 is LWML Mite Box SUNDAY. The large Mite Box is in the narthex. You can help spread the Gospel around the world by contributing to the LWML mission goal. Thank you.

The Book to Know group will meet March 12th, 7:00 pm, at Gretchen Zitterich’s home to discuss “Daughter of Jerusalem: A Novel” by Joan Wolf. Everyone is invited to read this book and join us for the discussion.

FREE MONEY! (FOR CAMP OKOBOJI)! If any youth who have completed grade 3-12 would like to attend a week of camp at Camp Okoboji this summer, the Board of Youth has funding available to help pay registration fees. They also have information on other financial opportunities if interested. Camp registrations are open now. Deadlines will be soon. Please contact Carla Murphy for details.

Grocery Shower for Camp Okoboji ~ Join us during Lent to support Camp Okoboji with a grocery shower. Their wish list includes- large cans of vegetables (except peas), cereal, sliced olives, mayo (not salad dressing), pickles, Oreos, snack crackers (with cheese or peanut butter), Instant Iced tea, sugar, flour, heavy paper plates, 8oz Styrofoam cups, paper towels, and heavy duty aluminum foil (75 ft. rolls). Look for a tub with the camp logo where you can place your items. Thank you!!!

We need some groups to provide Lenten meals on March 11 and March 25. A free will offering will be taken at each meal to help cover the cost. Contact Karen Griffin (232-8709) with questions.

If you were not able to sign up for the Simple Fix workshop for March 5, we hope to have another one at a later date. This is a freezer meal workshop at the West Ames HyVee. You will bring home food for 4-6 people for these yummy 7 meals. Cost is cost of groceries, plus $10/person for setup fee, which is about $110. Sign up on the bulletin board in the narthex!
