Family Service Quilters will meet Thursday July 26th for a Thrivent Team Action Event from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Wear your Thrivent T-Shirts, bring a sack lunch and join us.
Please check the sample church directory in the narthex to make sure your contact information is correct. Many people are getting rid of their land lines, so please make sure we have a correct phone number for you. Many people are including their email addresses, so please consider if you would like your email address added. July 29 is the last day to make changes. Thank you.
As you are all aware, we have had a very wet summer across north and central Iowa. In the last month heavy downfalls of rain caused flooding in the Ames, Ankeny, and Des Moines area. A variety of individuals and churches have been impacted by flood waters. Iowa District West congregations have always been great at responding to the need when asked for disaster relief funds and now we have needs in our own district. Now is the time for these individuals and churches to begin rebuilding and replacing their losses. If you wish to make a donation (unused funds will support future disasters), please make checks payable to IDW-Iowa Flooding and send to: Iowa District West, 409 Kenyon Rd Suite B, Fort Dodge, IA 50501. 10% of your bill at Texas Road House is donated back to the church on any Sunday when you bring the current Sunday bulletin and show it to the restaurant. This is an ongoing fundraiser for all youth projects.
The Board of Education is preparing for this year’s Vacation Bible School being held July 29 through August 1st from 6:00 – 8:15 PM! Registration is open and you can register 2 different ways: 1. By paper (hardcopy), pick up a registration form – 1 for EACH Child needs to be completed! Please do not put two or more names on the same form! Or, 2. Go to: vbsmate.com/StPaulAmesIA and fill out the online registration form.
VBS helpers still needed!!!! VBS is a week away and we still need volunteers to fill a few spots. Primary areas include group guides (lead a group from station to station), helpers in the preschool rooms, and crafts. Please playfully consider serving your Lord and community at this outreach opportunity and then see the sign up on the bulletin board. We also need people to help set up and decorate on Sunday July 29 after second service so we are ready to go by 5pm. you can help for an hour or until the task is done your time would be appreciated. SCHOOL SUPPLY AND BACKPACK DRIVE July 16th – August 15th –Items will be collected for middle school and high school-aged students. Their greatest need is for bigger, heavy-duty backpacks. They also need college-bound notebooks, pocket folders, loose-leaf paper (college or wide-lined), glue sticks, color pencils or markers, and even pencils and pens! Please consider buying a quality backpack and filling it with these most needed supplies. Place all your donations into our school bus display located in the narthex. Thank you for your generosity!!!
