Announcements:

Advent dinner–  St. Paul youth planning to attend the National Youth Gathering in Minneapolis, MN in 2019be hosting a pasta dinner before the Advent Services on Wednesday, December 14th, beginning at 5:45.A free will offering will be collected to kick off their fundraising efforts.

Praise the Lord in Thanksgiving! We collected 220 items with our Baskets of Plenty food drive for the Bethesda Food Pantry on November 20. In addition, $839.00 was donated. Thank you for your generosity.

Joining Jesus on His Mission Lifestyle Training- Coming Soon- Save The Date – An exciting event will be happening at St. Paul on January 6, 7 and 8.  Reverend Greg Finke will be joining us to provide Missional Lifestyle training.  The main training session will be on Saturday, January 7th at the church from 9 to 3.  The weekend will be a fantastic way to kick off your daily walk with Jesus in 2017.  There will be more information forthcoming, but save the dates.  Everyone will want to be part of this opportunity.  To prepare for this weekend visit Reverend Finke’s website at  www.dwelling114.org and continue to read or reread the book Joining Jesus on his Mission.

NEXT SUNDAY we will be collecting Mites for the LWML Mission Grants. December featured Grant-  $60,000 –Healthy Families, Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska-  To continue to move forward at the Centers with its mission to build and strengthen individual, family, and community life, beginning with pregnant mothers, infants, and children under age five.

POSITION AVAILABLE: Director of Music Ministry- We are seeking a person to lead our music program at St. Paul. The duties of this part time position would to be to direct the Bell Choir and the Parish Choir. In addition, the opportunity to serve as part time organist would be available. Compensation to be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Quilters Needs- We could still use some gently used sheets for the quilts. Please leave them in the bin marked “Quilting Supplies” under the coat rack at the east entrance. you.

2017 Offering Envelopes are ready for pick-up in the narthex. Please pick them up promptly.

Conversational Dinners TONIGHT….  We are going to have our “caroling through the 80’s” evening to tonight, Sunday, December 11th.  Carol and Keith Folkmann will be our host couple for the evening. We will meet at their home at 5:00 pm to divide into two groups and will gather there again after we have caroled to people in the Ames area. We will gather together after caroling for 1980’s era snacks and beverages at the Folkmann home.  If you would like us to come and sing with joyful enthusiasm at your home or you know of someone who enjoys us stopping by to sing a few carols, please let us know.  Plan to be part of this very special evening, enjoying good food, St. Paul friends, and a bit of the 80’s. Remember, Conversational Dinners are open to all adult members of St. Paul.  No joining fee, no waiting list, just a good time and a chance to get to know your St. Paul “fellow disciples”.  Contact Drue or Ellen Sander for more information.

The Book to Know group will meet Feb 9 at Adele Knop’s home to discuss “Her Mother’s Hope” by Francine Rivers. Everyone is invited to read this book and join us for the discussion.
