Announcements:

For Pastor’s Sunday morning Bible study on Greg Finke’s book, Joining Jesus on His Mission , please read chapter 3 for next week. This book tells you how to share Jesus’ love in everyday life. If you don’t have a copy yet, you can purchase one for $10 from the office.

TODAY we will be collecting Mites for the LWML Mission Grants. September’s featured Grant-  $100,000- The Lutheran Church Mission in Uganda (LCMU) hosts 100 plus congregations with less than 20 ordained pastors. This LWML Mission Grant will go toward completion of the seminary in Uganda and to continue the work of the Women of the Pearl (WOTP) to teach and put resources in the hands of women and men. The WOTP’s mission is to provide education in literacy, nutrition, sanitation, business ownership, and agriculture to women in Uganda so they may serve God, support pastors, congregations, and communities through the teachings of Scripture. The seminary allows pastors and lay leaders the opportunity to study closer to home.

The Book to Know group will meet Nov 10 at Lori Jenks’ home to discuss “Snow Day” by Bill Coffey. Everyone has plenty of time to read this book and join us for the discussion.

REMINDER: deadlines for the Iowa District West Junior and Senior Youth Gatherings are quickly approaching. If interested please return registration materials or contact Carla Murphy no later thanSunday, Sept. 25 in order for us to mail registrations all together before the Sept. 27 deadline.

“Fall” Into Conversational Dinners on October 9th…”As Time Goes By” is this year’s theme as we gather at the home of Drue and Ellen Sander to celebrate the 1960’s.  We will kick off this year with a potluck dinner and an evening of 60’s trivia and fun.  So find those bell bottomed pants, Beatles albums, high school annuals, and your Mom’s favorite recipes and come join us.    If you are new to St. Paul, or you haven’t ever been to a conversational dinner, please consider this your invitation to join us.    RSVP to druellen@hotmail.com

Yes, we are still collecting school supplies. The ladies will be taking school supplies to the Fall Boone Zone Rally on October 1. These will be sent to West Virginia. If you would like to attend, sign up on the bulletin board.

Director of Music Ministry — Mary Nelson has been our Director of Music Ministry for the past fifteen years. Mary was part of the music program for 25 years at Bethesda before the Lord led her to St. Paul to lead our music program. The Lord has called her back to Bethesda to serve as their primary organist effective November 1. Mary has been a blessing to our congregation and when you have the opportunity over the next 45 days please share that with her.

We will begin immediately the process of filling the position of Director of Music Ministry. A group of individuals interested in our music program will be formed to lead the search. This group will be led by Paul Knop and Jon Buss from the Board of Elders. If you are interested in learning more about the position or know of a person who you think would be a good candidate contact Paul.Knop@zionsbank.com or jonconbuss@outlook.com.
