Announcements:

Preschool Job Opening: The preschool is looking to hire a person to supervise the before-school care from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. on Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Friday. Preschool Treasurer Needed: The Preschool Board is looking for a Treasurer. This is a volunteer position and provides a BIG blessing to the preschool and the families. -If you are interested in either of these positions, contact Lori Jenks at 233-1914.

WOSP/LWML will be hosting the Fall LWML Rally Saturday, October 4th. Many hands will be needed for the service & the kitchen. Please put the date on your calendar and check the sign-up sheet posted on the bulletin board in the narthex. Recipes for the main dish and dessert will be furnished. We will also need morning coffee treats, i.e. kringla, bars, rolls coffee cakes, quick breads. We are planning for 75 guests. Questions/Ask Tanny L. or call 233-5444. We will be collecting adult socks and underwear for HOPE Ministries. Place them in the bin marked LWML.

 Learn to Dance- Dance lessons will begin this Thursday, Sept 25 and run for 6 weeks (concluding Oct. 30) here in the fellowship hall.  The cost is $65 per couple for the 6 week session. The class is limited to 20 couples. The first 12 to sign up will receive a $10 discount. Sign up on the bulletin board. Questions? Contact Ron or Julie Coy at 233-5097.

Jimmy’s has frozen hamburger patties (not cooked) left from the Farm Progress Show.  The meat is from Fareway, made into 1/3 lb patties. There are 72 patties in a box with the box selling for $75.  Or you may purchase a sleeve of 9 patties for $10. The hamburger is 85% lean.  Brats are also available. Contact Jimmy Fangmann at 515-433-1227 if you are interested. These are left over from the preschool fundraiser.

Bring your old laundered jeans and flannel shirts or fabric to the Quilters Box before October 12. They will be taken to Perry where they will be made into quilts for homeless veterans. Place in the quilters box. If you have questions, contact Marilyn Hagemoser at 232-2807.

Reminder…our Fall Fireside Festival will kickoff the 2014-2015 Conversational Dinners in the backyard of Will and Gretchen Zitterich, 905  Top-O-Hollow, tonight at 6:30.  All adult singles and couples, young and not as young, are invited to come and share good food and fun conversation around a campfire as we roast hotdogs and  make S’mores.  Bring a dish to pass, your beverage of choice, a bag or lawn chair, and roasting sticks if you have them.  Table service, cider and water will be provided.

A new Wednesday morning Bible study! This fall, our Wednesday morning group will close our study of the Pentateuch (first 5 books of the Bible) with a study of Deuteronomy. We meet Wednesday mornings at 10:30-11:30 a.m. For this week, Sept. 24, please read chapters 12-14.

New Mission Project: The Sunday School will be directing offerings from September through December to the purchase of mittens and hats for needy children. The children can also bring NEW hats and mittens in as offerings as well.

Younkers Coupon Books are for sale now!!!They are $5 to purchase but have a $10 coupon in the book. See any Human Care Board member (Carol Folkmann, Reiny Friedrich, Al Latuska, Brian Weber, Nancy Wiebel), or Karen Griffin to purchase your book. All proceeds will go to Good Neighbor Emergency Assistance to help provide healthy food vouchers, gas vouchers, and rent or utility assistance to persons living in Story County. If you don’t care to purchase a book but would like to donate to Good Neighbor, that would be appreciated as well.

FAMILY SERVICE: We will meet Thursday, September 25 at 10 a.m. for quilting until noon. Bring a sack lunch for noon. At 1 p.m. we will have a devotion, meeting and dessert. Plan to join us as we make quilts for Lutheran World Relief. Enjoy the Christian fun and fellowship while you are there. We meet in the Fellowship Hall.

Congregational Care Cards are now available and have been placed in the pews. If you or someone you know from the congregation needs meals provided due to illness or surgery, or if someone needs a visit or transportation provided, please fill out the card in the pew rack, place it in the offering plate, and either an elder or Human Care Board member will take action to help out. Thank you!
