Good Neighbor Emergency Assistance, Inc. is on the move!  Good Neighbor has moved back downtown, in order to serve our neighbors more effectively.  Please join the Director, Michael Fritz, and the Good Neighbor Board in an Open House at our new location, TODAY, January 12, 2014, 11:30 am – 2:30 pm, at 613 Clark Ave. (next to First Christian Church and across from Fareway).

Sunday Morning Adult Bible Study: Faith Lessons from the Holy Land   All are invited to our new Sunday morning adult Bible study in the fellowship hall.  Our Bible studies will take us on further adventures to the Holy Land, via DVD viewing on the new big screen TV mounted on the wall.  We will experience more fantastic faith lessons with historian, teacher and archaeologist Ray Vander Laan.  Our studies take us back to ancient Egypt, the land of Pharaohs, pageantry, and rich resources, where God’s people endured the misery of slavery.  Vibrant film footage from the Holy Land, historical insights from Ray Vander Laan, and group discussion of the Scriptures will make this a memorable and moving time of learning.

Our new Audio/Visual system is in use. We are in need of willing people who would like to be trained to operate the control panel. If you would be willing to serve in this way, please let Chris Hand or the office know.  Thank you, Board of Elders

Men’s Bible Study will  resume on Jan 13th at 6:00 p.m. at the church. New members are encouraged to join us. We are studying Jeremiah.

The Praise Team is in great need of keyboard volunteers.  If you can help out, please talk to Joan Ingwersen.

The Bible Study on the Gospel of Matthew continues on Wed, Jan 15th at 10:30 am. We will also be having our Senior potluck at 11:30.  Bring a dish to share and join us. We will cover chapters 2-4.

A new Women’s Bible study will begin tomorrow evening at 5:45 pm, Jan 13th. We will be studying the life and writings of Paul. Please come, even if you did not sign up, we have plenty of books. They are $10. We meet Mondays from 5:45 to 7:00 p.m.

St. Paul Lutheran Church Blood Drive, Tuesday, January 21, 2014, 3:00pm- 6:30pm, St. Paul Lutheran Church Bloodmobile, 610 15th Street, Ames.To make an appointment, contact Nancy Wiebel at (563) 357-0517 or schedule online at http://www.lifeservebloodcenter.org/ Your donation means so much. Thank you for giving the gift of life!

Printed Bulletins  The Board of Elders has been monitoring the bulletins we print and distribute at each worship service.  We are seeing an ongoing decrease in the number of bulletins requested now that we have the new AV system up and running and the worship service is being projected onto the screen.  We are pleased to see this and beginning in February our ushers will offer those who come to worship the choice of either a full bulletin with service order plus announcement page, OR an announcement insert only.  The decreased usage of paper serves as a way we are acting as good stewards of the resources in God’s creation. In addition, the decreased paper usage offers a lower monetary expenditure for printing costs. We are very excited about our new AV abilities and truly appreciate your input and patience as we move forward with the implementation. Thank you, Board of Elders

We need you!!!!  This is a casting call for 4 women and 4 men to be a St. Paul Player in our  Murder Mystery Dinner, “The Last Train From Paris” on Saturday, February 15th.  The evening is being hosted by our LWML and Conversational Dinners and everyone is invited to join us for dinner and a. “Good mystery”.  Contact Ellen Sander () if interested in being a member of the cast.
