Please check your member mailbox located near the Wilson Ave. doors– Thanks!

The WOSP want your old cell phones and empty ink cartridges.  Did someone in your family got a new cell phone?? Please bring us your old cell phones (with charger) and home and/or office ink cartridges and place them in the container in the fellowship hall. These will be sold and the money used to defray the cost of the LWML convention in Des Moines in 2015.

Good Neighbor Emergency Assistance, Inc. is on the move!  Good Neighbor has moved back downtown, in order to serve our neighbors more effectively.  Please join the Director, Michael Fritz, and the Good Neighbor Board in an Open House at our new location, Sunday, January 12, 2014, 11:30 am – 2:30 pm, at 613 Clark Ave. (next to First Christian Church and across from Fareway).  Thanks to the generosity of First Christian Church, who owns the property, Good Neighbor is now much more accessible to the Ames community.  Light refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there.

Thrivent Builds Funding As we come toward the end of 2013, we begin to reflect on what we have and what we can do. One of the things we have begun in 2013 is the building of a Thrivent Builds House in Huxley. This is in partnership with Central Iowa Habitat for Humanity. Because of the help of many volunteers, the house has progressed very well and will be complete so the family can move in before Christmas. If we all do our share, we can bring affordable housing to one more family in Story County. You may make your contributions to your church in the offering with a note that it is for “Thrivent Builds” or you may mail your contribution to our treasurer at address noted below by year end. We thank you so much for your help with this project. Thank You. Story County Thrivent Board Treasurer, Bob Folkmann, 1326 Burnett Ave, Ames, Ia 50010

Our new Audio/Visual system is in use. We are in need of willing people who would like to be trained to operate the control panel. If you would be willing to serve in this way, please let Chris Hand or the office know.  Thank you,  Board of Elders

Men’s Bible Study will resume on Jan 13th. New members are encouraged to join us. We are studying Jeremiah.

The Praise Team is in great need of keyboard volunteers.  If you can help out, please talk to Joan Ingwerson.

Thank You – I want to thank you all for your prayers, cards, visits, and gifts while I was at Bethany Manor and now at Ballard Creek in Huxley. Your support means so very much to me. Thank you and God Bless You.   ~Ila Nerness

2014 Offering envelopes are ready to pick up. See the table in the narthex.

No Midweek classes until January 8th.

Books to Know Group ~ We will meet next on January 9 at 7:30 pm at Adele Knop’s house to discuss Lessons I learned in the Dark by Jennifer Rothschild.

A very special Thank You for all the Hope Gift Market Giving, we just about made $10,000.00, so perhaps that can be our goal for next year. God loves a cheerful giver and our congregation cheerfully gave. Thank you again, Human Care Board.

A new Women’s Bible study will begin on January 13th. We will be studying the life and writings of Paul. Please sign up on the bulletin board if you are interested in attending so we can order enough books. They will be $10. We meet Mondays from 5:45 to 7:00 p.m.

Please come Monday, Jan 6 at 6:00 p.m. to help put away our Christmas decorations.  Many hands make light work!

Friends in Christ — My family and I would like to thank all of you for your cards, gifts, and warm wishes during the season of Christmas. We are truly grateful to you for your special kindnesses at Christmas, as well as throughout the year. It is a blessing to serve our Savior together with all of you. May the Lord continue to enrich your lives with true peace and joy from Jesus throughout the New Year as you celebrate the blessings Christ comes to bring us!  Pastor Jenks
