If you are leaving town for the winter, please let the office know your winter address so we can send the Epistle and other mailings to you.

Family Service quilting group will meet on Thursday, October 12th, from 10:15 until 2:00 p.m. for a Thrivent Action Team Event. your Thrivent T-Shirt, bring a sack lunch and join us.

October 29th-Trunk-or-Treat from 2:00-3:30 pm. Join in the fun by decorating a trunk for this fun family activity. Stay tuned for more information as we get closer to the date.

Wanted: Instrumentalists!! We need to rebuild our Instrumental group. Can you help us? All instrumentalists are welcome. Contact Wayne for more information.

You are invited to attend the Informed Choices of Iowa annual banquet.  Guest speakers are Alan & Lisa Robertson (of Duck Dynasty). The banquet will be held Tuesday, Oct 17 at 7:00 pm at the Gateway Hotel. The banquet is free, but registration is required. A free-will donation will be received at the banquet. We would love to fill a table – or two. To join the fun St. Paul table, sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board in the narthex.

Looking for a way to serve? We need people to serve Sunday morning coffee at 9:45 am in October. The sheet is posted on the bulletin board. 

It is time to sign up to receive the LWML Lutheran Woman’s Quarterly for the next year.  The Lutheran Woman’s Quarterly is the official publication of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and is full of inspirational stories, mission updates, convention news and more. If you would like to receive the Quarterly in your mailbox next year (begins spring 2018) please sign up in the narthex. The cost is $5.00 for the 1 year publication. Envelopes are located by the sign up sheet for your payment.

The Reformation” Order this book at a reduced price of $22.49. Sign-up on the poster in the narthex, place your check in the office mailbox. Last day to order is October 15.The Reformation” is an illustrated and engagingly written overview of this amazing time of change and renewal in the Christian Church. There is a sample book in the office for you to preview.

We encourage all to attend next week’s services to hear a message on stewardship, and the importance it plays in the daily life of a Christian. During adult Bible study between services, noted Lutheran author, lecturer and historian, Dr. Paul Maier, will address questions you might have pertaining to church and Biblical history. Please bring your questions and join us! ~~The Stewardship Committee

TODAY being LWML/Women in Mission Sunday, you are especially invited to Fellowship and Bible Study hour. You need not bring your bibles, as we are expecting a guest speaker “from across the ocean”. She will bring information which you may not be aware of and you will be glad you stayed to hear her message.

LYF meal and pumpkin decorating event. Wednesday, October 11 from 5:30-7:30 pm in the fellowship hall. Please see the sign up sheet or email Carla Murphy if attending so we have enough pumpkins for everyone.

Beta Sig, Lutheran Fraternity at ISU will be holding their annual philanthropy brunch event on Sunday, October 22nd, from 9am – 1pm at their house, 2132 Sunset Drive. All proceeds from this event benefit Habitat for Humanity.

On Communion Sundays we will now offer gluten-free wafers as an option. If you would like the gluten-free wafer, please point to the special container in the center of the tray of wafers, or say “gluten-free” to the elder distributing the wafers.

Time to fill the tubs, Let’s fill the tubs with new underwear and socks for all ages. These will go to either Bethesda Clothes Closet or HOPE Ministries in Des Moines.
