Announcements:

The St. Paul Bell Choir is gearing up to start their season of ringing. We rehearse every Thursday at 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm up in the balcony, and our first rehearsal for the season will be September 7th. All are welcome to come (literally) ring praises to our Lord. If you have any questions please feel free to send an email or give Katie S. (Bell Choir Director) a call.

The Board of Education would like to remind everyone of the following dates: August 30th 7 pm Midweek Kick-Off Ice Cream Social: September 6th-1st Midweek class for grades 1-8; September 10th-Sunday School Rally Day and 1st day of fall Sunday School; October 29th-Trunk-or-Treat from 2:00-3:30. Please be thinking about participating by decorating a trunk for this fun family activity. Stay tuned for more information as we get closer to the date. The Board of Ed. is always looking for new ideas for better serving our youth. you have any thoughts and suggestions, please don’t hesitate to bring them to anyone on the board.

We have a wonderful outreach here at St. Paul with our preschool. One of the best ways we can support our preschool families is through prayer. We would like to have a church family praying regularly for each preschool family. That’s it!!!  Just pray!  Please sign up on the bulletin board and a preschool family will be given to you to include in your prayers.

Is your bucket list completed? Have you Joined Jesus on His mission? This summer the Discipleship Group and Thrivent have supplied party buckets available to take home and have a party to connect with people and share God’s love. Time is running out – buckets will be available through Labor Day. Any questions? Call Janelle Swenson or Ellen Sander.

Fall Women’s Bible Study – We will be studying “David, A Man after God’s Heart” beginning September 11 at 5:45 pm in the church basement.  If you would like a book, please let the office know. Thank you.

Final Sign Up Today-August 26 Training Day Event! Reverend Greg Finke and Susan Finke will be joining us for the weekend of August 26.  On Saturday, August 26, they will lead a fun and informative training session from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm.  We have available after the church service today Reverend Finke’s just published book “Joining Jesus: Show Me How.” The discounted price cost is $10. Today is the final day to sign up for the event.  Join the 65 members of our church family that have already signed up for the training event. 

Family Service quilting group will meet on Thursday, August 24th, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  Bring a sack lunch and join us.

This fall we will kick off our first ever Lutheran Olympics here at St. Paul. All families, no size too big and no size too small, are encouraged to sign up When: Sunday, September 10th   Time: 2:00 PM. Registration is open NOW, and the deadline to register is Wednesday, August 23rd.   Forms are on the Family Corner bulletin board.

POSITION AVAILABLE: Vocal Choir Director – The duties of this part time position would to be to direct the Parish Choir. The director would hold weekly practices and direct the choir during worship 2 Sundays a month, Sept- May. In addition, the opportunity to serve as part time organist would be available. Compensation to be commensurate with experience and qualifications. If interested, email office@saintpaulames.org for more information. PICK & PAY  ~The 2019 NYG participants have kicked off their two-year fundraising campaign and we kick it off with a NEW idea this year: Pick & Pay! This gourmet lollipop tree is a great way to help the NYG participants to earn funds to make it to Minneapolis in 2019. It’s easy! Pick the sucker you want, look at the bottom of the stick, pay the amount that corresponds to the color you have! It could cost you only 50 cents, $1, $2, or at most $5! Take a chance and help us earn some dough! This is the sweetest deal around!

Junior High Gathering – NAILED IT! Iowa District West Junior High Youth Gathering is in Des Moines Oct 21-22 for youth 6th through 8th grades. This year the theme is “Nailed It” to go along with the Reformation. Registrations are due Sept 20.  If you missed the meeting but have questions please feel free to contact Carla Murphy or Thomas Wilson. 

SAFE Policy and Procedures Training will be held TODAY in the sanctuary between services from 9:45-10:15. If you are planning on volunteering to work with the youth of St. Paul, in any way, VBS, Sunday School, or Mid-Week School, or even Trunk or Treat, please come and be trained in proper procedures. Please complete the SAFE application (available in the office or online) prior to training. If you are not available on that date, or have questions, contact Jana Weiss.

The American Heritage Girls scouting program is gearing up for their second successful year. will be an informational meeting in the fellowship hall for parents and children Sunday, August 27, from 6 pm to 7 pm. We will introduce the leaders and there will be time for parents to complete permission slips, health forms, and pay dues. There will be a slide presentation also. AHG is a Christ centered ministry, promoting leadership and character building to girls ages 5 through 18. AHG offers a strong service program, teaching girls to “love one another as I have loved you” while practicing servant skills in preparation for their future in God’s will. AHG is approved by the LCMS and sponsored by the Women of St. Paul.
