Announcements:

Looking for a way to serve?  We need people to serve Sunday morning coffee at 9:45 am in February. The sheets are posted on the bulletin board.

Next Sunday we will be collecting Mites for the LWML Mission Grants. January featured Grant-  $50,000 –-  To fund the printing and distribution of scripture in mother tongue languages where Lutheran Bible Translator supported translation projects are ongoing or have recently been completed in Botswana, Ethiopia, and Angola/Namibia Africa.

The Book to Know group will meet Feb 9 at Adele Knop’s  home to discuss “Her Mother’s Hope” by Francine Rivers. Everyone is invited to read this book and join us for the discussion.

If you have a special occasion to celebrate or just want to offer, we need members to sign up on the altar flower chart that is located on the bulletin board in the narthex. There are very few flowers for the altar through December. If you would like to volunteer for flowers, sign your name on the flower chart on the Sunday you would prefer. If you have any questions, you can contact Judy Peter or Athena Puck.

Director of Music Ministry Update- The search group for our new director has met with little success during the four month search.  The group did interview one candidate.  Members of the group feel there is an opportunity to serve the Lord if the position is split into multiple positions.  Thus, if the Lord moves you to consider serving, or you know of someone who has expressed an interest in serving, as Vocal Choir Director, or as Bell Choir Director, or as part-time organist, please visit with a member of the search group.   It is our hope that by dividing up the duties we can find qualified and willing candidates to serve the Lord in these areas of our music ministry. “Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:19b)

New Wednesday morning Bible study – Come explore the book of Jeremiah. This major prophet laments the destruction of the temple, the siege on Jerusalem, and the people’s being led away as captives into exile.  Yet he also predicts the coming age of the new covenant under the Righteous Branch, who will be the Good Shepherd. Please read chapters 6-10 for this week’s session. We meet 10:30-11:30 in the fellowship hall.

Mark your calendar for Team Sunday February 5! Though we may cheer for different teams every day, we can all agree we are on God’s Team. All you have to do to participate is wear your favorite team colors or a St. Paul shirt.

The participants planning on attending the 2019 National Youth Gathering in Minneapolis will be holding their annual Super Sunday Subs Fundraiser! Sub sandwiches can be ordered for $10 and will be available for pick up on Super Bowl Sunday, February 5th.  Your support in ordering a sub will help offset the cost each participant will need to contribute. Thank you in advance for your ongoing support!  Subs can be ordered following each service on Sunday, January 15th, 22nd and 29th.

We have just a few left of Greg Finke’s book, “Joining Jesus on His Mission”. They are $10.  Contact the office if you would like one.

The blood drive will be held on Tuesday, 1/24, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in Life Serve’s Blood-Mobile (which will be parked in St. Paul’s parking lot). interested in signing up to donate blood can contact me at (515) 450-2358. need for blood is as great as it has ever been!

A Seedy Opportunity!   St. Paul has been given an exciting opportunity to raise funds and all it requires is counting to 5.  “Our Iowa” magazine is contracting with us to insert 5 sunflower seeds into envelopes for a future issue.  The process is very simple and we invite anyone (over the age of 12) to participate. Materials are set up in the fellowship hall (east end).   Come anytime you are available… individuals or groups. For more information contact John Murphy at 451-2860
