Thank you from Pastor – Thank you to all of you for your meaningful cards and kind words of appreciation during clergy appreciation month. I am very grateful for your appreciation and support.  Lori  and I are truly blessed to be serving Jesus together with you. We thank God for His kind and caring people here at St. Paul!

THANK YOU! Your farewell celebration last Sunday was just wonderful! Being serenaded by the choir and listening to the kind words that were spoken were touching and so appreciated. Thank you all for the hugs, nice cards and the beautiful cake. But thank you mostly for the wonderful fifteen years I spent with you. As Bob Hope would say, “Thanks for the memories.” Mary

Ascension Lutheran Fall Festival will be held Sat, Nov 12, 9am-3pm.  You are invited to come and shop and eat.  There will be a silent auction with unique Iowa State items, craft sale, bake sale, and garage sale items. Soup and bread available for lunch from 11 am to 1 pm. All proceeds will go to fund a mission trip to Haiti for several of their members. See the bulletin board for more information.

The Book to Know group will meet Nov 10 at Lori Jenks’ home to discuss “Snow Day” by Bill Coffey. Everyone is invited to read this book and join us for the discussion.

Family Service Circle will meet on Thursday Nov. 10th from 10:15 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. will be a Thrivent Action Team Event so wear your T-Shirts. a sack lunch. Anyone is welcome to join us.

Conversational Dinners…November 13th.   “As Time Goes By” in the 1970’s.  We will be gathering in groups of 8-10 people at 6:00 on November 13th.  So, remember back to what was happening in your life in the 70’s, (military, marriage, college, family, hair style, food and current events) and join us for the evening.  If you would like to be a host couple, please contact Drue and Ellen Sander. The Sanders hosted the first dinner of 2016-17 and we were blessed with a beautiful fall evening, food like Mom used to make, and clothes that were definitely 60’s. A big thank you to all who came and made the evening “so 60’s-ish.”

POSITION AVAILABLE: Director of Music Ministry- We are seeking a person to lead our music program at St. Paul. The duties of this part time position would to be to direct the Bell Choir and the Parish Choir. In addition, the opportunity to serve as part time organist would be available. Compensation to be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Christmas Musical- Bethel Church in Boone will be doing their annual “The Gospel According to Scrooge” musical on Dec. 2, 3, and 4. See the flyer on the bulletin board.

Quilters Needs- We could still use some gently used sheets for the quilts. Please leave them in the bin marked “Quilting Supplies” under the coat rack at the east entrance. you.

The Benevolence Fund (Friend in Need)was started to act as an emergency fund to help members facing temporary financial difficulties. Currently, the fund is in need of replenishment. We invite you to consider donating to this worthy cause to help your fellow members in need.

National Youth Gathering meeting for parents AND youth. In July 2019 our Synod will hold the National Youth Gathering in Minneapolis. This event only happens once every 3 years.  We encourage you to think about attending this amazing faith-impacting event. Please come to a short general informational meeting on Sunday, November 13 after first service. (Youth must be either 14 yrs old or entering 9th grade at the time of gathering).
