Announcements:

Only one service next Sunday, September 4 at 10:00 a.m.

We have a wonderful outreach here at St. Paul with our preschool. One of the best ways we can support our preschool’s families is through prayer. We would like to have a church family praying regularly for each preschool family. That’s it!!!  Just pray!  Please sign up on the bulletin board and a preschool family will be given to you to include in your prayers.

Beginning Sept 11, Pastor’s Sunday morning Bible study will be on Greg Finke’s book, Joining Jesus on His Mission . This book tells you how to share Jesus’ love in everyday life. Please read it to be prepared for the class. You can purchase them for $10 from the office.

TODAY we are collecting Mites for the LWML Mission Grants. June’s featured Grant-  $100,000- This LWML Mission Grant will be used for mission work among the Lost Sheep of Israel IN Israel through Apple of His Eye Mission Society in Israel. Bold steps need to be taken to do the hard work of seed sowing so that God’s spirit can draw people to himself by convicting them of sin and planting faith to follow Him. This is important because Jewish people are dying without faith in Christ. The funds will be used to help identify and train Israeli Jewish believers to develop systems and strategies for outreach and planting house fellowships, just as in the days of the early church.

The Book to Know group will meet Sept 8 at Tanny Latuska’s home to discuss “The Light and the Glory” by Peter Marshall and David Manuel. Men– this book is rich with our nation’s history and would be of interest to both men and women.

Reminder: There is no Sunday School during the summer. The Adult Bible class will meet in August.

Septoberfest is less than 1 month away and the committee is working hard on planning. You all have heard about the bean bag toss games and I’m sure you are starting to practice. We need to have you sign up so we can get the beanbag boards ready.  If you have a board we can use, please let us know. There are sign up lists on the bulletin board for a variety of places we need your help or if there is something you want to do, let us know. ~Karen Griffin

The Women’s Bible study will take a break and resume Sept 19 with our new Beth Moore study “The Patriarchs”. Books are available in the office for $5.00.

CHECK YOUR MAILBOX!  The new phone directory and the Annual Report are now in your member mailbox.

A helper is needed for the 5th-6th grade Midweek class every Wednesday from 4:30 to 5:30 pm beginning Sept 7th. (We have a teacher). Two people could share this position.  If you are interested, please let Breanna Wetzler or the office  know. Thank you.

HOPE Ministries is in need of “The Summer Six” for the shelters for homeless men, women and children. The Summer Six are tooth paste, toilet paper, paper towels, men’s deodorant and men’s razors. Also HE (high efficiency) laundry soap. Place your donations in the HOPE box and they will be delivered. Thank you and I know the collection center will say “God Bless You”.

If you have a special occasion to celebrate or just want to offer, we need members to sign up on the altar flower chart that is located on the bulletin board in the narthex. There are very few flowers for the altar through December. If you would like to volunteer for flowers, sign your name on the flower chart on the Sunday you would prefer. If you have any questions, you can contact Judy Peter or Athena Puck.

Mark your calendars and plan to join us. Conversational Dinners will resume on Sunday, September 11th. Conversational Dinners are for all adult members of St. Paul and their guests. We meet from September thru April, sometimes in homes in groups of 8-10 people and sometimes we do other group activities, such as bowling, attending a concert, or a movie. For more information you can contact Ellen or Drue Sander at 515-292-3574 or e-mail druellen@hotmail.com. We’d love to have you as part of our group this year.

Too hot to bake? We think so too. Visit the No Bake – Bake Sale TODAY. Make a freewill donation, nothing to carry, no calories to burn off, no guilt. The Board of Women’s Ministry would like to more women to “feed on God’s word” at the National Lutheran Woman’s Missionary League convention in Albuquerque in 2017.

VBS was only 4 days and students were able to fill and actually overflow little red wagon with school supplies that will go to students in need in the Ames area. We are challenging the members of St. Paul to re-fill the wagon before the start of school which is August 24. Items can be small like rulers and pencils or larger like backpacks, binders and notebooks.
