Announcements:

Reminder: There is no Sunday School during the summer. The Adult Bible class will meet in August.

We have a wonderful outreach here at St. Paul with our preschool. One of the best ways we can support our preschool’s families is through prayer. We would like to have a church family praying regularly for each preschool family. That’s it!!!  Just pray!  Please sign up on the bulletin board and a preschool family will be given to you to include in your prayers.

We have the Joining Jesus on His Mission books by Greg Finke. This book tells you how to share Jesus’ love in everyday life. Pastor will lead a Bible study on this in the fall, so if you would like to read it over the summer you can purchase them for $10 from the office.

The Book to Know group will meet Sept 8 at Tanny Latuska’s home to discuss “The Light and the Glory” by Peter Marshall and David Manuel. Men– this book is rich with our nation’s history and would be of interest to both men and women.

Septoberfest is less than 1 month away and the committee is working hard on planning. You all have heard about the bean bag toss games and I’m sure you are starting to practice. We need to have you sign up so we can get the beanbag boards ready.  If you have a board we can use, please let us know. There are sign up lists on the bulletin board for a variety of places we need your help or if there is something you want to do, let us know. ~Karen Griffin

The Women’s Bible study will finish our Bible study on homosexuality on August 15.  We meet Mondays at 5:45 pm in the basement. Everyone is invited to attend. We will then take a break and resume Sept 19 with our new Beth Moore study “The Patriarchs”. Books are available in the office for $5.00.

CHECK YOUR MAILBOX!  The new phone directory and the Annual Report is now in your member mailbox.

HOPE Ministries is in need of “The Summer Six” for the shelters for homeless men, women and children. The Summer Six are tooth paste, toilet paper, paper towels, men’s Deodorant and men’s razors. Also HE (high efficiency) laundry soap. Place your donations in the HOPE box and they will be delivered. Thank you and I know the collection center will say “God Bless You”.

Save the date! A social informational meeting will be held for all parents and daughters in American Heritage Girls Troop IA2016 Sunday, August 21st, at Shagbark Park from 3-4 pm. Refreshments and games planned. Watch for further details exact location. Please contact Gretchen Zitterich or Lori Jenks with questions.

A helper is needed for the 5th-6th grade Midweek class every Wednesday from 4:30 to 5:30 pm beginning Sept 7th.  If you are interested, please let Breanna Wetzler or the office know.   Thank you.

If you have a special occasion to celebrate or just want to offer, we need members to sign up on the altar flower chart that is located on the bulletin board in the narthex. There are no flowers for the altar through December. If you would like to volunteer for flowers, sign your name on the flower chart on the Sunday you would prefer. If you have any questions, you can contact Judy Peter or Athena Puck.

Mark your calendars and plan to join us. Conversational Dinners will resume on Sunday, September 11th. Conversational Dinners are for all adult members of St. Paul and their guests. We meet from September thru April, sometimes in homes in groups of 8-10 people and sometimes we do other group activities, such as bowling, attending a concert, or a movie. For more information you can contact Ellen or Drue Sander at 515-292-3574 or e-mail druellen@hotmail.com. We’d love to have you as part of our group this year.

Too hot to bake? We think so too, visit the No Bake – Bake Sale, August21 and 28. Make a freewill donation, nothing to carry, no calories to burn off, no guilt. Help us get to the National LWML Convention in Albuquerque in 2017!

The annual Tuscan Dinner to benefit the Good Neighbor Healthy Food Voucher program will be held on Sunday August 21st at the Unitarian at 1015 Hyland Ave., Ames. Social time for the event will be at 6:00 p.m. with dinner being served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $35.00 per person, with $20.00 per ticket being tax deductable. For tickets or more information, contact Becky Jackson at 451-0474.

VBS was only 4 days and students were able to fill and actually overflow our little red wagon with school supplies that will go to students in need in the Ames area. We are challenging the members of St. Paul to re-fill the wagon before the start of school which is August 24. Items can be small like rulers and pencils or larger like backpacks, binders and notebooks.
