Announcements:

Register today for VBS! Although walk-ins welcome at VBS, it really helps us plan if you can pre-register if you know for sure you plan to attend VBS. Forms are available at the VBS display and were emailed out too. All households will receive a free VBS music cd! We still need a few volunteers so see the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board.

ANYONE CAN HELP by providing an item or two for the VBS dinner on August 2nd. The menu is walking tacos and ingredients and cash donations are needed as well has some serving help. Take a look at the bulletin board sign-up sheet today. Thank you.

Reminder: There is no Sunday School during the summer. The Adult Bible class will meet in June and August, but NOT July. (We will have coffee on July 10th, 24th, and 31st.)

July 31 is the Last Sunday to update your address in the New Church Phone Directory! Please make corrections or additions to the copy in the narthex. You may add your email to the book if you like.

Help Feed My People at VBS. VBS has 1 night open yet that we are looking for a group of people to provide a meal for prior to VBS. The night needed is Wednesday, Aug 3. Meals need to be ready to serve by 5:15. VBS will provide table service. See the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board or contact Carla Murphy.

Septoberfest is less than 3 months away and the committee is working hard on planning. You all have heard about the bean bag toss games and I’m sure you are starting to practice. We need to have you sign up so we can get the beanbag boards ready.  If you have a board we can use, please let us know. There are sign up lists on the bulletin board for a variety of places we need your help or if there is something you want to do, let us know. ~Karen Griffin

On July 25, the Women’s Bible study will continue a Bible study on homosexuality.  What does God’s Word say? How are we to respond? This study was written by Rev. John Heckman for the LWML and has gone through complete doctrinal review. We meet Mondays at 5:45 pm in the basement.

Vacation Bible School  Ever wonder what it’s like to work on a farm? Well, Barnyard VBS isn’t a real farm but could use your help! We still need farmhand group guides (take kids from station to station), helpers for those guides, people to help set up for VBS on July 31 and take down on Aug 3 after VBS, help with preschool classes, bible story leader (one each night), story helpers, and provide and serve a meal. See the sign up on the bulletin board.

VBS donations/items to borrow  If you are allowing VBS to borrow item(s) please put you name on it and bring to church by July 24 or contact Carla Murphy.

HOPE Ministries is in need of “The Summer Six” for the shelters for homeless men, women and children. The Summer Six are tooth paste, toilet paper, paper towels, men’s Deodorant and men’s razors. Also HE (high efficiency) laundry soap. Place your donations in the HOPE box and they will be delivered.  Thank you and I know the collection center will say “God Bless You”.

Special report on the Synod’s national convention that was just held in Milwaukee. Come hear about all the decisions, resolutions, and hot news and happenings. Thomas Wilson from our congregation was our circuit’s lay delegate and he will share the report. Gather in the fellowship hall on July 31 at 9:45 am.

Today, July 24, from 4-5 pm in the fellowship hall, there will be an informational meeting for an American Heritage Girls troop starting in Ames this fall. Moms and their AHG aged girls (grades K-12) are invited to come and learn more about AHG, meet others considering joining the troop, and find out how they can help make this new ministry a success.

The quarterly Contribution Reports are in your member mailboxes.

Mark your calendar to come and quilt on Thursday, July 28th from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Bring a sack lunch and join the quilters this worthwhile cause.
