Thank you Will and Gretchen Zitterich for hosting our Fall Fire Festival.  We had a great turn out, the fire was awesome and the conversation plentiful, the only thing missing was a full moon.  If you weren’t able to join us in September, mark you calendar for October 12th, our next meeting for adult fellowship dinners. “Delightfully Spooky” is the theme for the night, featuring a “spooktacular” menu, and remember, “No tricks, Just treats”.  A team pumpkin carving/decorating competition is being held, with the winning team holding bragging rights for the rest of the year.   Let us hear from you, and we will hold a spot at the table for you.    Drue and Ellen Sander, druellen@hotmail.com

Wednesday morning Bible study! This fall, our Wednesday morning group will close our study of the Pentateuch (first 5 books of the Bible) with a study of Deuteronomy. We meet Wednesday mornings at 10:30-11:30 a.m. For this week, Oct 1, please read chapters 15-17.

Current Collections -Sunday School is collecting NEW warm hats and mittens for children in need this fall. The children may take them to their Sunday school class.  -LWML is collecting NEW underwear and socks for HOPE Ministries (bring by Oct 4); and old jeans and flannel to be made into quilts for homeless veterans (bring by Oct 12). You may place them in the LWML bin.

Younkers Coupon Books are for sale now!!!They are $5 to purchase but have a $10 coupon in the book. See any Human Care Board member (Carol Folkmann, Reiny Friedrich, Al Latuska, Brian Weber, Nancy Wiebel), or Karen Griffin to purchase your book. All proceeds will go to Good Neighbor Emergency Assistance to help provide healthy food vouchers, gas vouchers, and rent or utility assistance to persons living in Story County. If you don’t care to purchase a book but would like to donate to Good Neighbor, that would be appreciated as well.

WANTED: Old laundered denim jeans and flannel shirts to be used to make quilts for homeless veterans. Put donations into “Quilter’s Box”. Donations must be made by October 12. If you have questions, contact Marilyn Hagemoser at 232-2807.

School supplies still needed– The need for notebooks, pencils, & backpacks is very great this year. We will continue to collect these items to help local kids.

HEY YOUTH! What do apples, a corn pool, a corn maze, 2 giant jumping pillows, a gunny sack slide, tractor races, a hay ride and a harvest atmosphere all have in common? They are all at the Center Grove Orchard which is our next youth group activity on Wednesday, October 8! There will be no midweek/confirmation classes that day in hopes all youth will be able to attend. We will leave the church around 4:15 pm (NEW TIME) and return around 7:45 pm. A sack meal will be provided. Permission forms are available in the lobby and need to be returned by Monday, Oct. 6.

Congregational Care Cards are now available and have been placed in the pews. If you or someone you know from the congregation needs meals provided due to illness or surgery, or if someone needs a visit or transportation provided, please fill out the card in the pew rack, place it in the offering plate, and either an elder or Human Care Board member will take action to help out. Thank you!
