Items Needed for health kits  We are accepting donations of health items to make health kits as part of the Summer Sunday school mission project. Items needed include: toothbrushes, tooth paste, washcloths, nylon body scrubbers, body wash, shampoo, razors, combs, band aids, and 16” x 25” dish towels. See the display in the narthex for a list of items needed.

Reminder– Women’s Bible study will only meet in August on the 18th and 25th at 7:00 pm. We are not doing a series, just stand-alone studies, so all are welcome whatever day you can make it. No special materials or homework – just bring your Bible.  We will resume our normal schedule in September.

JOIN US August 10 & 17 AT 9:45 am for SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR ALL AGES!!              ~ Creation 101…God made our first parents, Adam and Eve in His image.  Holy and perfect, they lived in complete happiness and contentment, enjoying unhindered intimacy with God and each other in paradise.  They rebelled against God, bringing sin and its consequences upon themselves and all who would come after them.  But God is love.  He sent Jesus to restore the close relationship he planned with His children, by faith, God’s Spirit rebuilds a new identify within us.  Working through the word offering the forgiveness of sins, He make us holy – like Adam and Eve before the fall into sin.  Pre-School – 6th Grade / Preschool Gathering Area;  7th Grade – Adult / Fellowship Hall.

Weird Animals VBS starts this next Sunday, Aug. 3 through Wednesday, Aug. 6 from 6-8:15pm with an optional family meal at 5:20pm. VBS is for kids ages 3 through 6th grade. NEW THIS YEAR– our first night (Sunday) is FAMILY NIGHT. We want all members of your family to join us for the whole evening starting with a meal at 5:20pm. We will do an opening in the sanctuary, some songs and a short Bible story lesson and then go back to the Fellowship Hall to assemble the Health Kits and quilts as a big group. We still need volunteers to provide a meal on the first night, people to work the registration table and 2 more people to be Zoo Crew guides and helpers. Contact Carla Murphy (VBS Coordinator), Cindy Baas (Board of Education Chair) or see the sign up sheet on the bulletin board.

VBS is also in need of: 1. “weird animals” to use as decorations. (like the ones by the VBS display). If you have any you no longer need, please bring to the church and place under the table. 2. Artificial bright flowers or greenery (if you want returned, please label with your name)

The Quarterly Giving Reports are in your member mailboxes located near the Wilson Ave. doors.

Through the generosity of a of St. Paul member, we are replacing most of the old wooden tables in the shed. They have been temporarily moved to John Murphy’s garage. If anyone wants an old table, please contact John Murphy at cell # 515 451 2860 or via E-mail at MURPHYJ@ALMACO.COM

The WOSP want your old cell phones and empty ink cartridges. Did someone in your family get a new cell phone?? Please bring us your old cell phones (with charger) and home and/or office ink cartridges and place them in the container in the fellowship hall. These will be sold and the money used to defray the cost of the LWML convention in Des Moines in 2015.

On August 31, Good Neighbor is holding its Italian Dinner to raise money for Healthy Food Vouchers for needy Story County residents. It has been held at Lucullian’s in the past with the owners generously underwriting the entire meal expenses, thus all the ticket sales went directly to Good Neighbor. This year because Lucullan’s was sold to new owners so we can’t use the restaurant space, but the former owners have hired their former chef to prepare the same meal for us again; it will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Ames at 6:00 for the social; 6:30 for the buffet dinner. You will get a delicious buffet of three entrees, salad, bread, a light dessert and beverage. Ticket price for this dinner is $35 per person and is mostly tax deductible. St. Paul is one of the “founding” members of Good Neighbor more than 16 years ago, and continues to support the agency with Carol Folkmann and Pat Thiede serving on it’s board of directors. Please support us as you wish and are able!! Email or phone Carol (carol.folkmann@gmail.com, 515-450-5819) or Pat Thiede (patsy50010@gmail.com) if you wish to purchase tickets –and/or have questions.Thank you and may God continue to bless you.
