CarFit is coming to Stevens Memorial Chapel on June 4! CarFit is an educational program that offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicles “fit” them. The CarFit program also provides information and materials on community-specific resources that could enhance their safety as drivers, and/or increase their mobility in the community. See the poster on the bulletin board for information.  A free shredder will also be available that day and they will be collecting eye glasses, ink cartridges and cell phones (for LWML).

Today is Mite Box Sunday. Please help the LWML reach their Mite goal by dropping your extra coins or bills in the large Mite box.  All those extra coins and bills are very much appreciated. Thanks.

The LWML IWD convention In-gathering will be items for “Phil’s Friends” – comfort items for cancer patients.  The list includes: Fleece blankets; Bibles; Christian CDs; Journals – For Men and Women; Thick, fuzzy women’s socks; Packaged Tea; Word Search, Puzzle, and Game Books; Non–flavored chap stick; Bandanas or warm hats; Men’s Baseball Hats; Travel Sized lotion; $5 gift cards from Panera, Dairy Queen, or Starbucks; Playing cards (standard cards, Uno, etc.); Biotene mouthwash–travel size.  Place items in the tub marked LWML.

Reminder– Women’s Bible study will continue to meet during the summer on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Mondays at 7:00 pm. We are not doing a series, just stand-alone studies, so all are welcome whatever day you can make it. No special materials or homework – just bring your Bible.

Are you an adult who has never been confirmed? Would you like to learn more about the core beliefs of the Christian church, drawn from Scriptures? Would you like to dig deeper into the foundations of our faith and the teachings which come from Christ? We are working to make plans for a new adult confirmation class. The class would involve workbook lessons you complete at home and group discussions with Pastor and other participants in the class. You may attend the class simply to review the material and to refresh your faith, or you may attend with a goal of being confirmed. If you are an adult who has an interest in this, please speak to Pastor Jenks very soon.

WOW! A big thank you to the children of St. Paul who supported the COMFORT DOG program of Lutheran Church Charities with $517.75 in offerings this spring!

Please join me in remembering our church family members that have passed on to glory.  I am walking in the MGMC Hope run for Hospice on June 14 in honor of Dave Cavanaugh, Elaine West, Bill Stoner, Lew Hippen and Fran Newton. Please visit my home page  http://getmeregistered.com/homepage.php?id=7074  to help praise funds for IFHH. Last year Pastor Jenks won the award for the largest fundraiser.  Let’s do it again! I appreciate your support by cheering us on, walking with me or a monetary gift (tax deductible). Thank you.  Gretchen Zitterich

The WOSP want your old cell phones and empty ink cartridges. Someone in your family got a new cell phone?? Please bring us your old cell phones (with charger) and home and/or office ink cartridges and place them in the container in the fellowship hall. These will be sold and the money used to defray the cost of the LWML convention in Des Moines in 2015.

There is a need for English teachers to lead classes this summer at Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames. Right now we have a lot of openings. Classes will be June 18 – July 23. Our schedule is flexible! Materials will also be provided, and class sizes are 3-8 students which makes it relaxed and laid-back. No training is necessary, If you speak English, you are qualified, as students just want to practice pronunciation. If anyone is interested, contact Memorial Lutheran Church (515.292.5005).  Thanks, Hannah Moore, coordinator
